This photo has won the “Cathay Camera Club 2023 Exhibition”

Could you imagine that this photo almost didn’t happen?

When I got to the location (the small Hong Kong’s outlying island of Peng Chau) a couple of hours before sunrise, the sky was completely covered by a think blanket of clouds. I decided to set up the shot anyway and wait…

As sunrise time approached, I got more and more disappointed because no light was coming through, nothing! I was almost about leaving when… it happened! The sky suddenly opened and this beautiful light started shining through, making this magical colors appear and giving me my favorite photo of 2023.

And then, not even 10 minutes later, the clouds took over the sky completely again.
